Men pop up to support women

EVEN bigger than the sausage sizzle queue at Dandenong’s Pop Up Park on 24 November was the line to pledge support for the White Ribbon cause.
Dandenong police hosted the White Ribbon Cup soccer tournament and community day to spread the White Ribbon message to never stay silent about violence.
White Ribbon Day is held on 25 November each year and is a campaign led by men to reduce violence against women.
The Dandenong event included a visit from Matildas player Louisa Bisby and Melbourne Heart’s Philip Petreski.
Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Rollo said awareness and support to change community attitudes about family violence would reduce “this insidious crime”.
“It’s so important to speak up if you see or know someone is being abused in the home so that we can break the cycle of abuse,” he said.
“Together we can demonstrate that violence against women and children is unacceptable and will not be tolerated in our community at any time.”
