Police appeal after fires

POLICE are seeking witnesses to two deliberately lit fires in central Dandenong last week.
A passer-by called triple zero about 4.10am on 17 May after spotting a fire in a Cleeland Street front yard.
CFA crews attended and extinguished the blaze.
Detective Senior Constable Rick Mokos said no one was home at the time and that the fire started when someone set a pencil pine tree alight.
The flames caused moderate damage to the premises.
In the second blaze, a witness saw a man and woman running from an apartment complex’s front yard in Herbert Street about 9.10pm on 18 May, then discovered a small fire.
Det Sen Const Mokos said a bamboo fence had been set alight and the CFA attended and extinguished the blaze.
It destroyed about seven metres of fencing.
Call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 with any information about the fires.
