ST JOHN’S Regional College in Dandenong is playing a key role in Victoria’s Sons of Anzacs activities.
Gary Phillips from Sons of Anzac, Victorian RSL president David McLaughlin and City of Greater Dandenong mayor Jim Memeti launched the speaking tour and essay competition on 18 July.
Veterans from various conflicts will share their experiences with 3500 students from schools in the region at St John’s on 1 and 2 September.
The essay competition is open to students in Years 10 to 12 and 7 to 9 and can be based on fact or fiction of the Australian military or Australian military families.
The prize money is $1600 for the senior winner and $1400 for the junior and will be presented at St John’s on 2 September.
