A WORKING smoke alarm has saved a Keysborough family from their burning home.
CFA crews received a call to Kaylana Drive just after 9.30pm on Saturday 29 August.
About 25 firefighters from the Springvale, Dandenong, Keysborough, Noble Park, Patterson River and Frankston brigades contained the fire to an upstairs bedroom, adjoining areas and the roofline.
A smoke alarm alerted three people inside the home to the fire and they escaped suffering shock and minor smoke inhalation.
Police evacuated nearby homes for safety and Ambulance Victoria crews tended to the family and monitored the health of firefighters.
Crews salvaged belongings from the home and covered them with a tarpaulin. They also moved several cars and a motorbike to safety.
The fire’s cause is not deemed suspicious.
