Club’s big gift for little battler

Piotrus receives his club's donation for his treatment.

AN Endeavour Hills boy is receiving brain tumour treatment in China thanks to his soccer side.
White Star Dandenong Soccer Club raised more than $36,000 for Piotrus at a family day on Sunday 16 April.
The nine-year-old had run out of treatment options in Australia, following more than five years battling the illness, so his family is turning to a little-known cutting-edge light treatment only offered in China.
Piotrus refuses to skip juniors training at White Star, even in the wake of major surgeries.
The club showed a similar dedication when it offered to drum up support for his treatment.
Club vice-president Robert Drozdz said the 120-member club had never rallied behind a player in such a way, but it summed up its ethos as “the community club” in Dandenong.
“We consider all of our participants as family,” he said.
“We want to raise funds so Piotrus can live life like any other kid.”
