A Carrum Downs man ran into trouble with Highway Patrol officers on his way home from Dandenong Police Station.
Police intercepted the driver on Princes Highway in Dandenong about 7pm on Tuesday 10 April.
The Holden Commodore had false plates and was unregistered.
Police said the 47-year-old driver was also unlicensed following a previous drug driving offence.
They conducted a preliminary oral fluid test and allege that the driver tested positive for drugs in his system.
He will be summonsed to appear before the Dandenong Magistrates’ Court in due course.
