Dandenong Market is about to feel the heat of its first-ever Curry Festival.

The event in collaboration with Foodie Trails will bring offerings from all over the globe including Africa, Mauritius, India and Sri Lanka.

The line-up of vendors include Curry Up Now, Delicious Mauritius, Babaji’s Kitchen, Taka Taka, Mobile Chakula and Hells Breath.

Market general manager Jennifer Hibbs said the festival was the “perfect fit” with the most multicultural market in Melbourne.

“Dandenong Market is a multicultural hub offering authentic tastes from across the globe – including several different curries cooked fresh on the spot from homemade recipes.”

Foodie Trails founder Himanshi Munshaw Luhar said it was an event for “any foodie’s calendar”.

“This is a wonderful opportunity for visitors to try a range of curry delights paired with unmissable entertainment from countries that favour curries.”

Live music and entertainment includes Bollywood dancing, Mauritian live music, stilt walking, African drumming – and a Sri Lankan curry demonstration by singing chef Don Sherman.

There is free entry and free parking, as well as an opportunity to win one of 15 tasting passes at foodiefestmel.com.au.

The Curry Festival is at The Terrace, Dandenong Market at corner of Clow and Cleeland streets, Dandenong on Sunday, 2 September 10am-4pm.
