Lyndale Secondary College in Dandenong North has opened a new performing arts centre and STEM classrooms as the first stage of a $16.1 million dollar upgrade.

The next stages include a new IT wing, library, technology art facility and food tech classrooms.

“The facilities are of a professional standard and will give students a chance to learn at a higher level,” Lyndale’s performing arts coordinator Steve Rault said.

“It is a much needed change from the previous building, a basketball hall that was built in the ‘60’s and separated from the rest of the school.”

The new facilities are located at the heart of the campus and will be available for hire to local theatre groups and members of the community.

The upgrade was unveiled at the official opening of stage one of the school’s redevelopment by Dandenong MP Gabrielle Williams.

“I share the passion and excitement of everyone who has helped to turn Lyndale Secondary College’s vision into a reality,” Ms Williams said.
