Two males are at large after two violent attempted carjackings near Dandenong railway station.

A man was grabbed by one of the offenders just after he parked and walked away from his maroon Toyota RV4 vehicle at the Foster Street car park about 8.25am on Saturday 13 October.

The offender demanded the man’s keys and held him by the jumper, Victoria Police proactive policing unit says.

The victim ran away, hearing the sound of smashed glass.

He later discovered his car’s driver’s side window was shattered.

One of the offenders then approached a driver in his silver Mitsubishi Lancer and smashed the driver’s side window with a tyre iron.

He demanded the victim’s keys and struck him multiple times to the head, shoulders and forearms.

The victim moved to the opposite side of the car and fled on foot. He was chased by the offender, police say.

The offender was described as about 172 centimetres with black shoulder-length hair.

He was wearing a light-blue open shirt and a white T shirt at the time.

He was last seen running west along Greenland Place Dandenong.
