Retaining Dinuk Hettiarchchi and Matt Hague will give them significant star power, and keep them in the hunt for a premiership. They worked so hard to get back to Turf 1, and with a fit and healthy list, they will fancy their chances of getting back there quickly.

The reigning premiers of Turf 2 will be hoping to replicate its stunning form in last year’s finals into the new season, and will once again be a side to keep an eye on despite a lot of sides improving around them. The losses of Dowling and Zietsman hurt their bowling stocks immensely, but enough depth around the board should have them in the frame to defend its premiership.

It’s no secret that the Magpies endured a horror Turf 1 season, but is one of the sides that could benefit from the competition restructure as they embark on a new era. While other clubs have gone the path of recruiting from the outside, St Brigid’s/St Louis will instead opt down a stable path and look to forge ahead with virtually the same group that got into the Turf 2 finals last year. The club believes they can see natural improvement from their list, and with gun all-rounder Vaib Deshpande still the head coach, the side will definitely be around the mark for finals.

A tough season for the ones last year, but Silverton could be one club that rises after a brilliant off-season. Adding Simon Beshara to the mix has given the club a level of professionalism it hasn’t seen for a while, and a good mix of recruits plus an acceptable level of retention could see the Turf 3 side seriously have a crack at playing finals.
