South-east football abandoned due to big wet

A NUMBER of football and soccer matches across south-east Melbourne have been cancelled or postponed due to wet weather over the past two days.

All South East Junior Football League matches have been cancelled from tonight through to Sunday.

One Southern Football League and one Mornington Peninsula Nepean Football League match have been moved.

The SFL division 3 game between Doveton Eagles and Endeavour Hills has been moved to Charles Green Reserve in Endeavour Hills, while the MPNFL Peninsula League match between Mornington and Bonbeach has been moved to Bonbeach Number 1 Oval.

An Eastern Football League spokesman said all EFL matches were expected to go ahead but any last minute changes would be announced on the league website – efl.org.au – Facebook and Twitter sites.

Football Federation Victoria has announced several fixtures across south-east Melbourne have been called off or postponed.

An FFV spokesman said all Casey Comets junior and senior home matches, scheduled for Comets Stadium on O’Tooles Road, Cranbourne were called off.

The Comets senior and reserves sides were scheduled to play Mornington, but those games have been called off and moved to September 8.

Two FFV state league 3 games have also been called off.

Peninsula Strikers clash with Old Scotch at Centenary Park, Frankston North has been moved to September 8 while Doveton’s game against Knox City at Waratah Reserve, Doveton has also been moved to September 8.
