THE SES has issued a warning of potential flash-flooding in Melbourne’s south-eastern suburbs on Sunday.
The Bureau of Meteorology is forecasting heavy localised falls of up to 30 millimetres, which could mean roads flooding in already wet catchments.
The SES said it did not expect over-floor inundation of homes and businesses, but farmers and property holders near rivers and streams should consider moving stock and machinery to higher ground.
SES state commander Tim Wiebusch said driving conditions would be dangerous and there were likely to be road closures as a result of the heavy rain, particularly around the Monday morning peak.
‘‘Large areas of Victoria are very saturated already, in particular south-eastern Melbourne and Gippsland, which has seen regular heavy rainfall for several weeks.
‘‘The SES will be monitoring very closely the progress of the most recent forecast heavy rainfall and its impact on potential flooding.
‘‘We have already seen a number of roads closed and properties affected — anyone who has been flood-affected recently needs to be aware they could be affected again on Sunday into Monday.’’
