Double celebration for birthday, wedding anniversary

FRIENDS and family of Keith Shugg and his wife Sheila marked the couple’s 63rd wedding anniversary this month, even though the pair were not well enough to enjoy a fully fledged celebration.

The couple were showered with phone calls, flowers, cards and gifts for the occasion.

For Mrs Shugg, the day was cause for dual congratulations as it was her 83rd birthday. “Keith and I were married on my 20th birthday,” she said.

Mrs Shugg’s father George Mickelburough was a City of Moorabbin councillor for many years and in fact the couple met at a council function.

Mr and Mrs Shugg are proud of their four children: Cheryl (Mrs John Vernon) of Berwick, Pam (Mrs Keith Brightwell) of Berwick, Geoff and his wife Lee of Endeavour Hills and Debbie (Mrs Graeme Radford).

They have seven grandchildren — three grandsons and four granddaughters — and 11 great-grandchildren (three great-granddaughters and eight great-grandsons).
