Woman robbed in Springvale pokies car park

A WOMAN was robbed of $800 at knifepoint in the car park of a Springvale pokies venue early Saturday morning.

Police say the woman was returning to a car with two female relatives at the end of a night out at Highways, at the corner of Corrigan Road and Princes Highway, about 5.05am.

The group, one aged 37 and two in their 60s, were approached by a man with a red hoodie who produced a knife.

The man knocked one of the women to the ground and took her handbag containing $800 cash.

He tried to grab a handbag from another woman in the group. After a struggle, she was assaulted by the man.

The robber was described as Caucasian and about 20-25 years.
