Springvale level crossing work to begin

Preliminary works to eliminate Springvale’s level crossing are set to begin after Public Transport and Roads Minister Terry Mulder announced last week that Coleman Rail was awarded an initial $8.8 million design and construct contract. The remainder of a $350 million project to remove the level crossing and two others in Mitcham would be finished late next year, he said. South-eastern metropolitan MP Inga Peulich said the project would ease traffic and improve safety on one of the south-east’s busiest roads.
