Chisholm Institute says the state government’s sacking of Chisholm’s board chairman David Willersdorf is “part of the transition process for the TAFE sector”.
“David Willersdorf has provided strong leadership to Chisholm Institute over a six-year period which has seen the institute grow and continue to be successful,” chief executive Maria Peters said. “I would hope he would be able to continue to play a key role on the board going forward.” She said the board was acknowledged for excellent strategic work and financial leadership and wanted to retain as many as possible of the serving members.
Mr Willersdorf, who had been general manager of bus transport company Grenda’s, was one of nine TAFE board chiefs sacked by the state government last month. He didn’t return the Journal’s calls. Opposition skills and training spokesman Steve Herbert said the move was an “insult” to Mr Willersdorf and other board chairmen with “strong economic credentials”.”This removal of board chairs is an insult to the many highly talented people with strong economic credentials that are on these boards.”
