A specialised alcohol and drug unit will be set up at the Dandenong Hospital emergency department thanks to a $500,000 state government grant. The unit’s three full-time specialists will help treat growing numbers of intoxicated emergency patients at the hospital. Mental Health Minister Mary Wooldridge said drugs such as ‘ice’ created a higher risk of violent and complex behaviour.
