Cougars get the nominations

A CAVALCADE of Keysborough Cougars have their names down for awards at the upcoming BIG V Awards Night.
After a starring debut season at Keysborough, guard Eric Miraflores has snared nominations for Division-2 Men All Star Guard, Defensive Player of the Year and Most Valuable Player.
Miraflores averaged 19.8 points, 5.2 rebounds and a league leading 4.7 assists per game in his first season as a Cougar.
Joining him in the All Star nominations are coach Nathan Vogt and Kevin Benn, who is listed as an All Star Centre nominee.
Division-2 Women also received a nominee as Tamara Booth was shortlisted as one of the Rising Star candidates following a breakout season averaging 7.4 points and 7.4 rebounds in her debut year.
Rounding out the nominations were a few of the Youth League 2 Men’s championship-winning team – Jamal Talo received nods for All Star Guard, Defensive Player of the Year and Rookie of the Year, Matthew Walker as All Star Centre also secured a spot in the running, while Staci Richardson swept the nominations – earning recognition for All Star Forward, Defensive Player of the Year and Most Valuable Player.
Championship winning coach Craig Smethurst also received a nomination as Coach of the Year in the division.
