TARTAN, band pipes and animals took centre stage at this year’s Scottish Heritage Day on Sunday, 31 May.
In its 13th year the annual event opened up a world of fun and entertainment and brought a little bit of Scotland to Dandenong.
Dandenong Agricultural and Pastoral Society secretary Lynne Ferris said the free event showcases many different Celtic animals.
“The not-for-profit show displayed Welsh black cattle, Shetland ponies, Clydesdales and Celtic bred horses,” Ms Ferris said.
Andrew Spierings joined members from the City of Casey Pipe Band and entertained show goers with their Highland songs.
“We had the Australasian Guild of town criers, which dressed up in old gear and ran a crier competition,” Ms Ferris said.
Hundreds of people flocked to the Dandenong Showgrounds from 10am to 3pm with crowd favourites the kilt competition and dog show putting smiles on faces.
A Devonshire tea and sausage sizzle kept bellies full and raised money for next year’s event.
