Hospital chain changes hands

SOUTH Eastern Private Hospital has a new overseas owner.
The Noble Park hospital was among 17 across Australia that China’s Luye Medical Group took on when it bought Healthe Care on Thursday 14 April.
Healthe Care CEO Steve Atkins said he was excited about the opportunities under the new ownership, including backing for Healthe Care’s Australian growth aspirations and the group’s plans to expand into the Chinese health care sector.
“Our expertise in running some of Australia’s best private hospitals is now combined with the financial backing of Luye Medical and its strong service presence across Asia,” he said.
“Having the backing of a major international organisation also secures future funding for new acquisitions, plus reinvestment into our existing hospitals, services, people and the local communities we serve.”
Luye chairman Liu Dian Bo said patient care and outcomes were at the company’s heart.
“I see our role as enhancing and improving that experience for our patients,” he said.
“We have the capital and commitment to fund expansion of Healthe Care’s hospitals to enable it to continue to bolster its position as one of the leading healthcare service companies in the country.
“Healthe Care will provide us with a platform upon which we can build a world-class and highly successful healthcare service business not only in Australia and China, but also in many other countries of Asia where we see development opportunities exist.”
