Springvale Stories by popular choice

A SHORT film about life in Springvale won the People’s Choice Award at the inaugural Greater Dandenong Film Festival on 22 March.
Face to Face: Springvale Stories also tied with Happy Country for the Panel’s Choice Award at the free Cultural Diversity Week event, which featured 11 short films exploring cultural diversity in Australia.
Face to Face: Springvale Stories, directed by Sarah Catherine Firth, uses comic animation and the voices of students aged 5 to 12 to explore everyday stories of life in Springvale.
Happy Country by writer/director Corrie Chen is the story of a Chinese woman’s car journey to Sydney with her over-confident husband, and the discovery that distance is not confined to the landscape.
The films will be shown at community venues throughout Greater Dandenong over the next month. For more information, call the council on 9239 5265.
