Rangers call the shots

By JARROD POTTER

DANDENONG posted convincing wins over Kilsyth on their Saturday night trip up into the Dandenongs – with the men claiming a six-point thriller while the women smashed the Cobras 76-55.
Putting the afterjets on for the second half, Dandenong hit 30 points to 17 in the fourth term to run away with the win after trailing for most of the match.
Architects of their success, Tony Lewis (20 points, 15 rebounds) was unstoppable under the ring while Daequon Montreal (21 points, six rebounds) and Calvin Enge (11 points, eight rebounds) also accumulated stats at will from limited minutes.
With a 12-11 record, Dandenong sits a game clear of a three-team chasing pack in the SEABL East conference.
The Rangers men head up to Mt Gambier on Friday night before their Sunday clash at home against the Spectres.
First half domination set up the match – the Rangers had a 44-23 lead at the main break and kept the foot down in the second half.
Coach Paul Flynn leaned on his big-five to get the job done, with all delivering great numbers to claim the Rangers’ 16th win of the season.
Amelia Todhunter (20 points, four assists) is a clear choice for All-Star honours this season, while Faith Probst (16 points, nine rebounds, seven steals, three blocks) was named Player of the Week for her almost triple-double performance.
Rosie Fadljevic (10 points, eight rebounds) was also impressive from her 28 minutes court-time, Aimie Clydesdale (nine points) controlled the point excellently and Clare Papavs (nine points, five rebounds) also impressed.
Dandenong sits second in the SEABL East and faces Nunawading at home on Sunday from noon.
