MORE than 120 girls from eight Greater Dandenong high schools hit the courts at Springers Leisure Centre in Keysborough on Tuesday.
The Young Women’s Gala Day on 20 August aimed to increase participation in sport and promote physical fitness and mental health.
The City of Greater Dandenong Youth Services event received support from state sporting associations and local clubs to run soccer, netball, self-defence and Zumba classes.
Participants also attended health and wellbeing workshops promoting positive body image and mental health awareness.
They received information about accessing recreation, sporting and support services.
