Victorian ratepayers will be slugged an extra $140 fire services levy on their bills from next July.

Greater Dandenong mayor Youhorn Chea said the council was extremely disappointed the state government had attached the state tax to council rates.

“The council is very concerned that residents will associate this charge with a council cost.”
