NOBLE Park put on a brave effort in its Victorian Sub District Cricket Association south east seconds premiership yesterday.
The Parkers won the toss and put Malvern in to bat on their home conditions at Malvern Cricket Ground and the move backfired as the home side put on 5-285 on day one.
The Parkers’ Dale Vaughan (2-59) was the best of the visitors’ bowlers.
Noble Park chased doggedly yesterday afternoon but were bowled out for 202 late in the day.
■ Mount Waverley Cricket Club is looking for a playing or non-playing senior coach for the 2012-13 VSDCA season.
With former coach Geoff Bowyer looking to move back to an assistant role, club president Brad Sheehan said the club wanted to bring in a new senior coach to head its well-established senior and junior program.
“We put together a coaching structure last year with a head coach and two assistant coaches,” Sheehan said.
“Now we have that structure in place so whoever we appoint can step straight into the role. What we’ve found in the past is that a new coach comes in and just gets lumped with everything. That won’t be the case here.”
Despite all four Mt Waverley sides missing the finals this season, Sheehan said there were lots of positives around the club entering next season.
“Our first, second and third sides all missed the finals by percentage or one game,” he said.
“We will also get the first lot of players from our junior club moving into the senior side next season so we will get six to 10 players flowing in from next season onwards, which we are excited about.
”The health of the club is as strong as it has been for a long time. By the end of April we should have a good idea about the role.”
