Appeal for attack witness

A POTENTIAL witness has been asked to help track down a sexual attacker who assaulted a woman who was walking home from Noble Park railway station on Monday night.
Sexual Crimes Squad detectives said the woman was attacked in front of a medical centre on Heatherton Road near the corner of Dunblane Road shortly after 9pm.
A man approached her and started talking to her, touching her and blocking her path.
The woman retreated out of concern for her safety before the assailant grabbed her by the hand and neck and sexually assaulted her.
She fell to the ground where the man continued to sexually assault her.
The woman escaped after kicking away the man, who fled by crossing to the south side of Heatherton Road and running westwards.
A FACE image of the attacker was released by police.
He was described as being in his early to mid-20s, 183 centimetres tall and of Indian appearance.
He was wearing a dark zip-up sports jumper with a white zip, fitted pants, light-coloured shoes and a beanie.
Detectives said they want to speak to a possible male witness who was seen walking along Heatherton Road at the time and who may have seen the attack.
Motorists in the area at the time may have also seen the assault, police said.
Any information to Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or crimestoppersvic.com.au.
