One home distroyed and another saved

FIRE destroyed one home and threatened another in Springvale South last week.
The CFA was called to the blaze in Sharon Road about 1.10am on Monday 24 November.
The Dandenong and Springvale crews arrived to find three quarters of an unoccupied house on fire and the neighbouring property’s carport also in fire.
Springvale station officer Andy Waterson co-ordinated an aggressive attack to save the adjoining home, which belonged to an elderly couple.
He called for an additional pumper and a Melbourne Fire Brigade vehicle responded.
The CFA evacuated some nearby houses as a precaution until the fire was extinguished about an hour after the callout.
Ambulance paramedics responded with a health team to assess exhausted firefighters, and police and power and gas companies also attended.
The fire’s cause is still under investigation.
