Council moves ahead with club renovation

THE tender process to renovate the dilapidated Springvale Recreation Club will begin immediately.
Greater Dandenong councillors agreed to a notice of motion put by Keysborough South Ward councillor Peter Brown to bring forward the tender process, despite $300,000 of the $400,000 required to fund the works not being available until July.
Cr Brown said as a former City of Springvale councillor, the Springvale Recreation Club on Newcomen Road used to be the “gem in the crown” of the city’s attractions.
“It will return it into a useable and respectable community facility,” Cr Brown said.
Greater Dandenong Council allocated $100,000 in the current budget, and $300,000 in the 2008-09 budget, which is available for public comment.
