Third title in their sights

Larissa Anderson will lead Dandenong into battle in Saturday night’s SEABL women’s grand final.Larissa Anderson will lead Dandenong into battle in Saturday night’s SEABL women’s grand final.

DANDENONG will be gunning for its third SEABL women’s crown when it faces up to the Liz Cambage-led Launceston Tornadoes this Saturday.
Cambage, a former Dandenong junior and now Opals star, looks to be the main obstacle for the Lady Rangers in Saturday’s grand final, which will be played at the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre from 5.30pm.
The Tornadoes booked a date with Dandenong after defeating Brisbane 82-58 on Friday night.
The Rangers, who took the direct route to the grand final after finishing the regular season on top of the ladder, have had a fortnight to freshen up for the decider.
They crushed Launceston – minus the towering Cambage – 80-57 in the semi-final, but will be expecting a much tighter contest this weekend.
Dandenong appears to have the right mix of youth and guile to win it, with emerging stars Steph Cumming, Amelia Todhunter and Clare Papavs complementing the likes of Anderson and experienced forward Alison Downie.
Downie will likely get the defensive assignment on Cambage, a match-up which will go a long way towards deciding the result.
The Geelong Supercats and Bendigo Braves will clash in the SEABL men’s grand final from 8pm. Tickets for Saturday’s grand final double-header will be available at the door.
