World Cup fever hits plaza

WORLD CUP football reached fever pitch in Greater Dandenong after 2000 people flocked to Palm Plaza last Saturday to celebrate the sporting event.
Dandenong Plaza marketing manager Julie MacDougall said a goalkicking competition, Victoria Police band, a human football (table soccer) game, local football stars and multicultural dance were highlights of last Saturday’s World Cup festival.
She said traders reported increased traffic as shoppers lapped up merchandise and the excitement generated by the event.
The World Cup in Germany ends next week with the final to be broadcast 4am local time on 10 July.
