Music is king of the Castle

MUBABALOOBALA will hit Dandenong next month featuring a host of independent musical acts.
The concert will be held at The Castle on 2 May and tickets are $7 per person for pre-bookings, or $10 on the door.
The Castle is fast becoming the home of music for young people in Greater Dandenong.
Next month local independent artists will be given a chance to showcase their musical talent at a new event called Mubabaloobala.
City of Greater Dandenong Muso Network facilitator Mark Carter said six bands would rock the city during the four and half hour event.
“This is a great way to promote local artists in the community as well as creating positive social networks for our young people,” he said.
Mr Carter said music was an excellent way to bring young people together.
“The Castle gives young people an outlet to mix and socialise with their peers and music is a really strong drawcard for that,” he said.
“Music allows young people to socialise with their peers, as well as strengthening their connection with the local community.”
The event will feature Ekko, Foucault, Kick Me Kenji, The Sinking Sea, Dreaming of Awake and Picture Perfect Skys.
Mr Carter said the Muso Network was a great way for new musicians to gain exposure.
“This event is a fantastic launching platform for local bands,” Mr Carter said.
“The Muso Network has been going for 16 years and a lot of bands who started here have been able to carve out very successful careers.”
Mubabaloobala is open to all ages and will be held at The Castle on Friday, 2 May from 7pm to 11.30pm.
