Hotfoot it along new road

RESIDENTS will be able to cycle, walk or run the EastLink tollway two weeks before it opens to traffic.
ConnectEast, the tollway’s operator, has released more details on the EastLink Community Day this Sunday.
Devout cyclists will be able to ride the entire length of EastLink, up and back, from 8am.
For those keen on riding, but not along the entire tollway, a smaller 30 kilometre cycle tour of EastLink, and 10 kilometre family ride are available.
Runners will also have the opportunity to tread on EastLink with a six-kilometre fun run at the northern-most end of the road, in Ringwood.
If exercise is not your calling on a Sunday afternoon, ConnectEast is organising entertainment including the EastLink car show, which will parade from Frankston to Ringwood along the tollway, featuring vintage, sports and other unique cars.
At the Maroondah Highway site, ConnectEast is planning the base of its festival with live entertainment from 10am to 4pm, including a broadcast from 3AW, shuttle buses operating between sites, catering by local Rotary clubs, shows bags, and information stalls about EastLink.
