Painful wait for family of dead tourist

THE Dandenong father of an Australian killed in a Nepalese plane crash must endure a painful 10-day wait before his son’s body is returned home.
Bruno Frick, father of Andrew McLeod Frick, 30, who died with girl-friend Charlene Zamudo in a Yeti Airlines crash in Nepal last week, said auth-orities were still formally identifying the bodies of 18 people killed, including his son.
“They said it could be 10 days, so we’re just going to have to wait for that,” he said.
The death of his son hit Mr Frick hard after he heard the news from Ms Zamudo’s sister.
“Andrew’s brother was listed as next of kin but he was away on a holiday in Japan, so it was a bit of a difficult situation to contact everyone,” Mr Frick said.
“I was just in disbelief – I then saw the pics on the TV and was just devastated.”
Mr Frick said his son was a true gentleman and had planned to propose to partner Charlene upon returning from their travels.
“Like any father would say, really, he was a wonderful son – I’d never seen him angry, he was always ready to help anyone,” Mr Frick said.
Mr Frick said he would liaise with the Zamudo family to arrange funeral plans.
“We are already talking with Charlene’s parents, and we see them again this week. We’ll probably be talking a bit about what we will do when they are brought back.”
