Thunder loses focus

By Gavin Staindl
DANDENONG Thunder coach Stuart Munro has admitted his players “were a little off” during Sunday’s scoreless draw with South Melbourne at John Cain Memorial Reserve.
Despite dominating for the opening two-thirds of the game, Dandenong seemed lost when going forward and Munro did not deny the decision by Football Federation Victoria to strip the Premier League club of six premiership points could have affected his chargers.
“There was something in their (players) minds that made us a little off,” Munro said.
“We couldn’t score.
“It was one of those days, and hopefully the whole saga gets sorted soon so everything can get back to normal.
“We’ve had a good season and good team morale and it’s not the players who did anything wrong but now they get the points taken off them.
As a result of the heavy financial burden placed on Dandenong, the club is likely to move Saturday night’s game against Oakleigh to a day game to save money on electricity.
MEANWHILE, the Springvale White Eagles are having troubles of their own after being thrashed 5-0 by the Green Gully Cavaliers at White Eagle Stadium on Saturday.
The Cavaliers’ Hamid Basma notched up a hat-trick in the first hour of play as Green Gully romped to a convincing win.
