Issy takes some Holten

By JARROD POTTER

MARASINGHE ‘Issy’ Perera joined the echelon of elite Sub-District cricketers as he took out the Val Holten Medal on Friday night.
The Noble Park all-rounder had a sublime year with bat and ball as he rattled off 633 runs at 57 and also snared 26 wickets at a lean average of 17.
He polled 21 votes throughout the season to find himself atop the Holten count by night’s end – and Perera became a joint-winner of the Victorian Sub-District Cricket Association’s highest individual accolade alongside Balwyn’s Liam Murphy.
To cap off the success, the Bulls’ dynamo was also named in the VSDCA Team of the Year – Also starring on the night was Endeavour Hills’ wicketkeeper-batsman Ben Swift – who was named the Anthony Gale Medallist as the best player under-21 – and also Zach Allen was named to the Team of the Year as one of the openers following a 498-run season and Victorian under-19 representation.
