Works to help club make the grade

ENDEAVOUR Hills Cricket Club is set to soar into the 2016/17 cricket season with grading works on its four ovals slated for this winter.
The state government has boosted Endeavour Hills Cricket Club’s long-term outcome with the announcement of a $100,000 grant from the Community Sports Infrastructure Fund to upgrade cricket facilities at Sydney Pargeter Reserve.
The four cricket ovals will be reconstructed by re-levelling the ground, converting to warm season grass as well as improving drainage and installing synthetic pitches.
Endeavour Hills Cricket Club vice president Tom Hollis thought the resurfacing was a boon for the Eagles, especially to go hand in hand with the pavilion redevelopment at the ground recently.
“We’re absolutely ecstatic – something we’ve been hoping to get over the line for a while and rapt to be able to improve our junior grounds and get the synthetic pitches on,” Hollis said.
“It’s all about improving and making sure we’ve got facilities that any standard of cricketer would enjoy – especially our juniors so we can be seen as a team that juniors want to play at in within the south-east.”
Hollis believed the works would start by the end of the year and would not infringe on the 2016/17 season.
The Dandenong MP Gabrielle Williams said the funds would ensure the Endeavour Hills Cricket Club had the use of new, top quality playing surfaces well into the future for its teams in the Victorian Sub-District Cricket Association (VSDCA) and Dandenong District Cricket Association (DDCA).
“We have delivered the Endeavour Hills Cricket Club the great sporting facilities they deserve,” Ms. Williams said.
“They love their sport in Dandenong and this fabulous project will mean participants of all abilities will be able to strut their stuff at a facility they can be proud of.”
