BANGHOLME students last week raised more than $500 for Typhoon Haiyan victims.
Cornish College pupils brought a gold coin to class on 18 November to donate to CARE Australia, which is providing emergency relief to millions of people who are struggling in the Philippines in the super storm’s aftermath.
“It is hard to know how to respond at such a time, only that we feel a need to do something to show that we care,” marketing, communication and admissions officer Kylie Jones said.
Students spelled out the words ‘we care’ with the coins they donated – $545.85 worth.
“This is an opportunity for Cornish College to respond and, hopefully, make a small difference in the lives of those devastated by this natural disaster,” Ms Jones said.
