BOMBARDIER in Dandenong received a $17 million train carriage order from the State Government last week.
Premier Denis Napthine and Public Transport Minister Terry Mulder made the announcement at Bombardier on 23 March.
It was on top of an existing order for 40 new VLocity carriages which was placed in November 2012.
“This new three-carriage train will be capable of seating an additional 228 passengers, each and every trip for commuters travelling from Traralgon, Geelong, Ballarat and Bendigo,” Dr Napthine said.
The first of the 43 new VLocity railcars are to be delivered this year, and the last in late 2016.
