Balaclava-clad men armed with a baseball bat smashed a Dandenong North home’s front windows in what police believe is a case of mistaken identity.
Greater Dandenong CIU Senior Constable Riley Wesley said they shouted “where’s the dog?” during the incident, which occurred about 10.40pm on Wednesday 9 November.
A 62-year-old man and two family members were inside the Worrell Street house at the time.
Sen Const Wesley said five people in a light-coloured sedan pulled up outside the address and entered the property.
Two men wearing balaclavas knocked on the front door, one carrying a baseball bat that he used to strike the door.
The armed man then smashed seven windows and the victim’s vehicle before fleeing the scene.
