Thieves stole cash and jewellery from a Springvale South home while a tradesman worked in the yard.
Greater Dandenong CIU Detective Sergeant Craig West said the burglary took place at the Heatherton Road house during the day on Wednesday 4 October.
“A large quantity of cash and jewellery were stolen,” he said.
Det Sgt West said the money was stashed in a drawer and was to pay for a wedding.
He said the jewellery included five Sri Lankan necklaces and a diamond necklace.
Nobody was inside the house at the time, but a plumber was working outside.
“He didn’t see anyone come or go,” Det Sgt West said.
