Skipper Marasinghe Perera again led the way for Parkers, making 59 and taking 4-23 from eight overs as the home side batted first. They made 9-203 from their 45 overs before bowling out the visitors for 160 in 41.2 overs.

Wicketkeeper-batsman Dirk Vandergert made 49 for the Parkers and Mevan Fernando took 2-22 from 6.1 overs.

At Balwyn Park, Balwyn chose to bat and compiled 5-193 from their 45 overs. Matthew Foenander (3-45) and Matt Peake (2-18) were the only wicket takers for the Hills.

In response, the visitors fell to 3-58 early in the innings before Shean Vanderwert (77 not out) and Chris Peake (32) got their side within reach. Foelander (1 not out) and Vanderwert made sure they passed the total on 7-195 in 41.4 overs.

The VSDCA Legends and Heroes Twenty20 competition began last Tuesday with the Eagles’ 9-121 not enough to beat Oakleigh which finished on 4-164.

Noble Park lost to Mt Waverley, whose score of 8-116 was deemed the winning total after the Parkers had theirs reduced to 96 due to a slow over rate.

The VSDCA goes to two-day matches this Saturday with Endeavour Hills hosting Oakleigh at Syd Pargeter Reserve and Noble Park visiting Ivanhoe at Ivanhoe Park; both matches start at 1pm.
