Applications show ‘confidence in Dandenong’

DANDENONG has received $45 million in planning applications over the past month.
Major Projects Minister John Lenders said a significant part of the sum was Deal Corporation’s $30 million planned redevelopment, announced last week for the old Arkana hardware site on Lonsdale Street.
“The latest planning application demonstrates a growing confidence by the private sector to invest in central Dandenong,” he said.
Earlier this month, Dandenong bus company Grenda Corporation announced a $14 million redevelopment of its administration headquarters and bus depot as part of the company’s relocation from Foster Street to a new 2.7-hectare site on the south side of the railway line.
“Change is in the air in central Dandenong and the Government is making steady progress on a number of projects which will change the face of Dandenong for those that live, work and invest in the area,” Mr Lenders said.
Dandenong station’s car park contract has also been announced.
J.A. Dodd Limited, a civil landscape and building company, was recently awarded the contract to undertake works at Dandenong Station to improve the safety, comfort and convenience of commuters.
The gravel southern car park will be resurfaced and line marked, and extra car spaces will be provided.
The toilets at Dandenong Station will also be refurbished, additional platform shelter provided and upgraded lighting and closed circuit television cameras installed.
