Oz Day’s big turnout

MORE than 6500 people flocked to Dandenong Park on Saturday for Australia Day celebrations.
City of Greater Dandenong Council was pleased with the turnout for the Festival in the Park, which ran from 3pm to 9.30pm and featured musicians, rides, slides, cuisines from different cultures, roving performers and more.
A Wurundjeri Land Council elder performed a welcome to country and a smoking ceremony, which Jindi Worabak Dance Troupe followed with a traditional indigenous dance presentation.
Other 26 January events included a Noble Park RSL Aussie barbecue lunch, sausage sizzle and activities at Noble Park Aquatic Centre, a Chinese ensemble music concert in Springvale and festivities at Dandenong Market.
