Thunder gets cracking

By JARROD POTTER

AN OFF-SEASON like no other finally gets put behind the Dandenong Thunder Soccer Club, with the reigning Victorian Premier League champions set to face the Southern Stars.
With the on-going issues with the flares at the VPL grand final last year still putting a cloud over the Thunder’s financial viability, the club will aim to keep their football department strong and take first-round points in their premiership defence.
Dandenong Thunder will add one more weapon to their on-field arsenal, having announced the signing of Afghani international defender Faisal Safa Sakhizada – with the 22-year-old central defender joining the club from Ordu Kabul in Afghanistan.
Kick-off is 6pm at Kingston Heath Soccer Complex, Cheltenham.
