Arson fear after beds are left burning

By CASEY NEILL

GREATER Dandenong police are appealing for information about three deliberately lit fires.
The first was at a home in Corrigan Road, Noble Park, about 7am on Saturday 24 January.
An arsonist set fire to hard rubbish, including mattresses and sun lounges, which was stacked up for collection at the top of a driveway.
Greater Dandenong CIU Sergeant Glen Cruse said the resident extinguished the fire before it could damage any other property.
He said a man described as Caucasian, aged in his late 30s or early 40s and wearing a black singlet, was seen acting suspiciously in the area.
Greater Dandenong CIU Detective Senior Constable Ryan Johnson investigated two deliberately lit fires in Falkiner Reserve, Dandenong, before 6.20am on Tuesday 27 January.
The first was lit opposite 20 Falkiner Street and the second about 200 metres away near Ross Street and Turner Court.
Sen Const Ryan said the CFA extinguished the fires, which were about 50 metres from homes and burnt more than 250 square metres of the reserve.
“This time of the year we’re very concerned with the amount of deliberately lit fires,” he said.
“If the weather was hotter, it could have been more serious.”
Call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 with any information.
