Random attack

By LACHLAN MOORHEAD

A 36-YEAR-OLD man has been charged with assault after a man in his fifties was stabbed outside Dandenong Hospital over the weekend.
The 51-year-old victim, from Somerville, was standing outside the entrance to the hospital’s casualty ward when the Dandenong man approached him and started being abusive.
The offender then pulled out a kitchen knife and lunged at the victim, who suffered non-serious lacerations to his neck.
With the help of another man the victim was able to disarm and restrain the offender until police arrived.
It’s not believed the offender was known to the victim.
