REMEMBRANCE Day arrived early in Keysborough.
The South Eastern Masonic Centre on Hutton Road planted a lawn of poppies and unveiled the field of remembrance with a service on Friday 6 November.
The red blooms honour the men and women who served or made the ultimate sacrifice for the nation.
The Freemasons Victoria event included the Ceremony of the Unknown Soldier and a wreath-laying carried out by the Freemasons Victoria Grand Masonic team.
It was a rare opportunity for members of the public to witness a Masonic ceremony only carried out once a year.
The Victoria Police Shrine Guard made up the catafalque party and Freemasons Victoria Grand Master Hillel Benedykt was in attendance.
Prominent Freemasons who served Australia include Sir Edward ‘Weary’ Dunlop, a Lieutenant Colonel with the Royal Australian Army in World War II, and Flight Lieutenant Bud Tingwell, who served with the Royal Australian Air Force during WWII.
Dandenong’s Pillars of Freedom in Clow Street and Noble Park RSL, at 1128 Heatherton Road, will host Remembrance Day services, from 10.30am on Wednesday 11 November.
