BANGHOLME and Keysborough residents are being advised to remain vigilant as firefighters blackout a 2.5 hectare grass and scrub fire near Pillars Road.
The fire started at Riverend Road, Bangholme, about 3.50pm on 24 November, and spread slowly in a north-easterly direction threatening Pillars Road properties.
It was brought under control by fire fighters and up to 18 CFA trucks within two hours.
Firefighters remained at the scene overnight to blackout remaining hot spots ahead of today’s declared total fire ban.
About 11.30pm last night, the CFA issued a “downgraded advice message” for Aspendale Gardens, Bangholme, Keysborough, Waterways.
It advised those areas were “no longer under any threat but should remain vigilant”.
