Spate of vehicle thefts

Greater Dandenong motorists are falling victim to a spate of thefts from vehicles.
There’d been about 15 reported thefts in the seven days to Tuesday 11 April, according to Greater Dandenong CIU Detective Sergeant Dean Hedge.
He said the thefts occurred within various residential streets in Springvale, Noble Park and Keysborough.
Det Sgt Hedge said the thieves were striking at night, and “the main method of entry is they’re smashing windows”.
“Personal belongings are being left in cars,” he said.
Thieves are making off with wallets, credit cards, phones, iPads and more.
“It is school holidays. We tend to have a rise in instances like this,” he said.
“We’re just asking people to be vigilant, take everything inside out of their cars.
“They think that because they’re parked in the driveway they’re safe.”
