A lone bandit took cash and cigarettes after man-handling a Springvale service station attendant.
Greater Dandenong CIU Senior Constable Liam Comrie said the victim, a 24-year-old St Kilda man, let the thief into the Princes Highway Caltex outlet about 3.40am on Monday 7 August.
He grabbed the victim by the collar, threatened him and told him to open the cash register.
He fled west on foot with cash and cigarettes.
Sen Const Comrie said he was described only as Caucasian and was not armed.
He urged anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
